Your skills
We expect candidates of the Engineer of the Future programme to eventually have
an outstanding ability in a range of competences; and other transferable skills
by the end of the course. The skills and competences will be developed and
nurtured over the years of the programme.
Qualifications we're looking for:
- Chemical: Higher Maths & Higher Physics at B, with Higher Chemistry at a
minimum of B pass along with one other higher.
- Mechanical: Higher Maths & Higher Physics at B, plus two other Highers at B
pass.
- Instrument/Electrical: As above

Drive
- You enjoy challenges and your self belief and persistence ensures you complete
the task to a high standard
- You are decisive and resourceful when planning and prioritising
- You have a genuine interest and strong determination in becoming an Engineer
Communication
- You are proactive and show initiative to speak up when needed
- You have confidence to ask questions and converse in order to negotiate for what
you want
- Ability to listen and use information effectively
- You can communicate effectively and clearly without undermining people or giving
into people
Innovation
- Identify the root cause to a problem
- Creative solutions to problems and demonstrates a creative thinking style
- Ability to challenge traditional thinking and also the confidence to apply it
- Can show commitment and confidence to inspire others round to their way of
thinking
Team Working
- You are comfortable in a team situation
- A degree of self awareness and social awareness
- Ability to influence any change you feel necessary
- Can be tolerant and show respect to other opinions and ideas
