SET for the future: Engineers in the making

Our science, Engineering and Technology (SET) fair, held in Grangemouth Sports stadium from 3rd-18th March 2009 saw over 1800 primary 7 pupils from 52 schools in the Falkirk area participate in the annual event.
During the 12 days, budding scientists and engineers attended four workshops: "Who wants to be a scientist" and "Flash bang wallop" - exploring properties of light and concept of sound. The KNEX Challenge - design and construct a distillation Tower; Build a kite - planning and building; and Jitterbugs - making an electronic gadget. We hope pupils discovered that Science, Engineering and Technology can be a lot of FUN!
Ensuring the success of this type of educational event requires time and commitment from a cross section of INEOS employees. It also provides an ideal opportunity for our graduate engineers to get involved with a community project.
