Organisational Context and Job Purpose

INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products.  It has grown through a series of related acquisitions to become one of the world’s largest chemical company with sales of $60 billion.  It is the UK’s largest private company and comprises of 34 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. It’s production network spans 168 manufacturing facilities in 26 countries throughout the world. More recently INEOS has ventured into the sporting arena with the recent acquisitions of the Team INEOS cycling team, the French League 1 football club OGC Nice football and has launched a challenge for the 2021 America’s Cup.

INEOS Aviation, which is the largest private flight department in Europe, are looking for a candidate to manage all aspects of INEOS Aviation Finance and Administration, supplying information and support to the COO, Group CFO and other managers to enable efficient operations.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Accounting and Reporting:

As a member of the management team of INEOS Aviation, the Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring the provision on a timely basis of high quality and timely financial support and information for the monitoring of performance, for charging costs to the users and for critically evaluating and challenging existing processes, operations and structures in order to identify areas for financial performance improvement

Finance and Administration Team Management

The Aviation Financial Controller has direct line management responsibility for the Finance and Administration team in Lyndhurst. The role must ensure that the finance and administration team has the necessary resources, training and knowledge to supply the required services.

Aviation Business Operating Model

Establish and maintain up to date the appropriate Aviation business legal and operational structure, seeking advice internally and/or from third parties where necessary.

Contractual and Company Secretarial

Manage and administer Aviation purchase and other contracts (both ongoing and one-off but excluding aircraft purchase contracts).

Taxation

Manage all taxation aspects of the INEOS Aviation business ensuring compliance with HMRC and other tax jurisdiction requirements, including planning for future activities seeking advice internally and/or from third parties where necessary.

Other accountabilities include:

  • Act as Finance/Administration representative on Aviation Management team, attending bi-monthly meetings and reporting back on major activities/issues

  • Identification of any opportunities for cost optimisation, conducting this analysis and presenting to the Business and following through to implementation

  • Attend quarterly senior Aviation management meetings with COO and Group CFO, presenting finance report and advising on and/or providing updates on major activities and issues

  • Ad hoc projects as required

 

Candidate requirements

Education and Experience

  • Degree and Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or ACMA qualified

  • Minimum 5 years post qualification
     

Technical skills

  • People and project management, communication and organisational skills

  • Strong excel, accounting and analytical skills to develop and maintain the reporting and cost methodologies in particular

  • Statutory and management accounting and standards

  • Reasonable knowledge of VAT and other taxes

  • Ability to review, understand and re-draft contracts, knowing when to take advice from internal or external legal teams
