Business Development Manager



FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

This role is to lead the identification, development and delivery of Business Development Opportunities that increase the future profitability of FPS.  The Business Development Opportunities range from acquisition opportunities, identifying future fields that could flow into FPS, to industry consolidation to other ways of using the FPS assets to provide a greater service to the Oil and Gas Industry.  The job holder will work closely with the Commercial Director and other Board members to deliver these opportunities.

Principle Accountabilities

Identify, appraise and prioritise business development opportunities for INEOS FPS.

Develop the chosen business development opportunities by discussing with internal and external contacts, negotiating long term deals where appropriate.

Develop and maintain a wide network of contacts across the Oil and Gas Industry along with a database of market information that can be used for developing BDOs and any other purposes by FPS (or other parts of INEOS).

Promote INEOS FPS to the Oil and Gas Market so that people realise that we are “open for business”.

The BDM is the Commercial Compliance Manager for INEOS FPS – responsible for training people so that they comply with competition laws, contract laws, anti-bribery, etc.

Special projects.  The BDM will be asked to lead special projects on behalf of the Commercial Director where appropriate (e.g. the BDM recently led an office move).

Special Features

The role will be based in Aberdeen.

The role will involve meeting customers in Aberdeen or elsewhere as needed.  The nature of some projects is that they may involve travel and intensive periods of work (including unsociable hours) to progress the project.

Qualifications and Technical Experience

This role requires a senior level person with the experience and gravitas to interact at MD level in Oil and Gas companies.

This role requires a good knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry.

Applicants should be educated to degree level and have at least 7 years experience of working in a commercial role.

The role requires a self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team.
