Commercial Analyst - Competitive Salary and Benefits


FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.


  • Collate and manage a wide range of data on behalf of the Commercial team to support

    delivery of customer contractual obligations and to update production forecasts.

  • Assist with management of Customer relations


Cash Recovery

  • Waivers – work with Falkirk waivers team to create invoices and interface with Aberdeen Finance team to issue.

  • Send or Pay – assess restrictions data against existing contractual obligations to create monetary finding.

  • Contaminants – collate & summarise customer requests and engage with Business Engineer and Economics Analyst to determine variance against agreements

  • Late Start Up – assess contract and financial impact of customer field late start up against agreement obligations

  • Late payment / debtor follow up – work across Finance and Commercial teams to directly progress debtor resolution



  • Proven ability to drive cultural change.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to shape Contractor strategy to influence business or Project direction.

  • Significant experience in influencing decisions at Director Level.

  • Drive for continuous improvement.

  • Manage a large diverse team of technical & commercial specialists providing active leadership through correct motivation, delegation, staff coaching, development and regular appraisal.

  • Disciplined planning and organisation skills, together with the ability to perform under pressure.

  • Logical and practical with the ability to think laterally with advanced troubleshooting skills.

  • Excels in developing effective business relationships to deliver organisation goals.

    Contractual Obligations / Forecasting

  • Ownership, management and delivery of:

  • 2 and 10 year annual customer contractual forecast (FMQ) obligation

  • Quarterly FMQ management (short term lookahead)

  • Annual LoF FMQ process.

  • Collation of customer production forecasting data and issue to Finance team

  • Co-ordination of internal FPS meetings, summarise discussions to enable the Business Manager to issue quarterly planned restrictions update.

  • Maintain master spreadsheets capturing customer volume delivery, historic performance and agreed bookings


  • Ensure website information is up-to-date (including ICOP 5 year forecast)

  • Tariff escalation compliance with Agreements

Customer Support

  • Respond to customer queries re. tariff, contaminant fees, FMQ requests


  • A general business awareness and understanding of Oil & Gas Industry.

  • Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate business information with succinctness and clarity

  • Self-starter, desire to learn and develop

  • Able to work independently with limited supervision

  • Capability to work closely with the Business Advisors and Economics and Planning Manager to ensure a clear understanding of individual field performance

  • Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of timely delivery

    Advantage (but not necessary:

  • Knowledge of oil & gas infrastructure and its importance to customers, in particular FPS some familiarity with oil & gas legal agreements



Minimum Qualifications:


  • To HND / Higher standard or equivalent , or

  • 1 - 3 years’ broad Oil & gas business knowledge or experience

Job-Specific Skills:

  • Delivery of a high level of accuracy in product delivery; recognition of the importance of deadlines

  • Good IT skills, Excel (especially), Powerpoint and Word

  • Ability to work with external facing (Customers) and internal (INEOS) teams.

  • Able to tailor work to suit changing circumstances and direction from Business Manager and Commercial advisors.

  • Accurate communication (oral and written) skills
