Decommissioning and Demolition Team Leader - Competitive salary and Benefits


FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.


Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.


Job Purpose


Responsible for the Health, Safety and Welfare for the people working on INEOS FPS Decommissioning & Demolition sites. Executes Decommissioning & Demolition work to time and on budget.


Key Accountabilities


  • Supervises all Decommissioning and Demolition Enabling work on FPS INEOS sites

  • Ensures that suitable welfare provision is provided for all personnel working on Decommissioning and Demolition sites

  • On-scene Command trained to lead initial Emergency Response Actions when working at remote locations (for example pipeline remote pumping stations).

  • Promotes safe working at site including, but not limited to: CoW, AsCare, Housekeeping, Safety Observation Reporting, Self-Verification and Auditing.

  • Ensures all incidents and near misses are reported and investigated

  • Produces a detailed and costed Decommissioning and Demolition Enabling Execution plan with the support of the Project Scheduling and Cost Estimating Team.

  • Writes a daily report for distribution to the wider business regarding Decommissioning and Demolition activity

  • Monitor and report upon Decommissioning, Demolition Enabling and Demolition execution issues to ensure that they are anticipated and identified at the earliest opportunity and appropriate mitigations or solutions are implemented.

  • Manages all temporary plant equipment required for Decommissioning and Demolition activity in order to support efficient execution

  • Records contractor downtime and uses Continuous Improvement processes to constantly learn and improve in work efficiency.

  • Reviews Decommissioning and Demolition workpacks and procedures, providing feedback to the author on site execution requirements

  • Owns the execution bookies board for Decommissioning activity and ensures updates are provided in a timely manner by the team.

  • Participate in INEOS and contractor risk assessments (HAZID, HAZOP, HAZDEM etc) during the preparation phase of Decommissioning and Demolition activity.

  • Follows the FPS Demolition procedure including the safe handover of plant from INEOS to the selected Demolition contractor.

  • Advises the Demolition contractor on any INEOS specific risks or requirements during plant demolition phases

  • Ensure all works carried out comply with current CDM, Health & Safety and environmental legislation, ensuring that all staff are aware in all relevant H&S issues

  • Approx 15% of time working away from home at INEOS FPS North sites.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HND / Degree Qualified in an Engineering, Construction or Project Management discipline

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 10 – 15 years’ experience in an Operations, Maintenance or Construction Environment (ideally relating to oil/Gas industries or petrochemical manufacturing).

Job Knowledge Skills:

  • Awareness of formalised decommission/demolition/project processes

  • In-depth knowledge of oil and gas plant design, operations and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Law (including CDM) and legislative requirements/construction standards relevant to all disciplines.

  • Understanding of the budgeting process and cost control.
