Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe.  Our two advantaged refineries process 420,000 barrels of crude oil per day and produce in the region of 19 million tonnes of fuels per annum. Our refineries are strategically located at Grangemouth in Scotland and at Lavéra in France and are both fully integrated with co-sited petrochemical plants. 

 

Grangemouth, home to Scotland’s only crude oil refinery, is directly connected to the Forties Pipeline System in the North Sea. It also imports other crudes from around the world via our deep sea terminal at Finnart, on the west coast of Scotland.

 

Having committed to significant investment and remediation programme over the next few years, we require an E&I Asset Care Engineer

with relevant experience in the execution of technical improvements to play a key role in the delivery and support of our business.
 

The E&I Asset Care Engineer will be responsible for  proving maintenance engineering and technical support  through engaging processes, technologies, improving projects, relevant engineering practices to ensure integrity and reliability of all instrument and electrical equipment within the assigned Refinery Assets.

They will be responsible for ensuring timely endorsement/ testing of instrument and electrical equipment.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provision of E/I engineering to the Asset Team to ensure required technical input to deliver integrity, safety, reliability, maintenance, plant modification and operation of the Asset instrument and electrical equipment.
  • Provide support for reliability improvement processes including RBI, Asset Life Plans, Bad Actor Lists, vulnerability and RCFA reviews.
  • Develop, select, recommend and install engineering improvements for the asset equipment to achieve the agreed asset improvement targets.
  • Direct the Asset Inspection process to ensure compliance with the Statutory and Integrity inspection schedule as well as compliance with asset maintenance routines for all instrument and electrical equipment, to ensure safe and reliable plant operation. This refers to SIS function checking and calibration, hazardous area inspections, Green House Gas Instrument Inspection and the preventive maintenance routines for all other instrument / electrical equipment. The preparation and endorsement of functional test and calibration procedures is an integral part of this function.
  • Review all maintenance and inspection reports to ensure all repair recommendations and potential future vulnerabilities are captured and remedial action resourced and planned. This extends to SIL rated inspection reports, SIF audits, UPS and Generator maintenance and overhaul, hazardous area inspections, motor and switchgear maintenance reports.
  • Ensure that the MMS (Maintenance Management System) database for all equipment has the correct technical details, master maintenance documents and properly scheduled preventive maintenance to achieve the Asset Care Policy.
  • Responsible for ensuring the plant spares strategy is adhered to in order to ensure that repairs to failed equipment can be managed in a time scale appropriate to the criticality of the equipment.
  • Manage the preparation and execution of Asset Interventions for emergent repair or catalyst works to ensure plant downtime is minimised and works carried out as required to deliver future asset operational performance.
  • The role includes attendance at the following mandatory meetings: Area Inspection Meeting, Area Weekly Planning Meeting, Area Quarterly Vulnerability Session. Quarterly Maintenance backlog reviews.

 

The successful candidate will have:

Education/ Experience

  • Engineering Degree in Discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years petrochemical or other process industry.

Technical Skills

  • As a professional Engineer demonstrates thorough understanding and application of engineering discipline including knowledge of appropriate engineering standards and application.
  • Knowledge of Electricity and Work Regulations, Wiring Regulations, DSEAR, ATEX and IEC61508/11
