Environment specialist - Contract 12 Months

INEOS FPS

FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil, gas transportation and processing system serving the central area of the North Sea.

The Falkirk based FPS SHE & Compliance organisation provides the regulatory interface, integrity management and inspection support, specialist health, safety and environmental expertise and is the focal point for the integrated management system.

Job Purpose

To support the Environment Team Leader in the provision and implementation of a robust Environmental Management System (EMS) applicable to all sites within FPS.  The EMS shall meet all INEOS Group requirements, all legislative requirements, and acknowledge industry best-practice. The position will report to the Environment Team Leader and work alongside the other Environment Specialist.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Energy efficiency specialist for FPS business

  • Manage all FPS environmental emissions data reporting, including EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) regulatory requirements, and support all FPS Asset teams in reducing environmental emissions

  • Assure FPS asset teams in all aspects of waste management regulatory requirements

  • Manage FPS soil and groundwater risk management programme

Job Requirements

  • Support the provision and implementation of a robust EMS applicable to all sites within FPS that defines all INEOS Group and legislative requirements, and acknowledges industry best-practice, for the areas defined in the Job Dimensions.

  • Working with Asset Technical Teams, lead the analysis of energy use across the FPS business and identify energy efficiency opportunities.

  • Maintain EUETS CO2 emissions permit for Kinneil/LPG in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Support the Environment Team Leader in providing assurance to the FPS Operations Leadership Team that EMS and environmental permit/licence/consent/authorisation requirements are being met to prevent non-compliances and regulator enforcement action.

  • Ensure that all INEOS Group and regulatory environmental emissions data reporting requirements have been completed to the appropriate standards.

  • Provide waste management expertise to FPS business and assurance that all ‘Duty of Care’ requirements are met.

  • Provide environmental technical expertise, including where necessary specific legislative interpretations, to the FPS business to enable the achievement of environmental management in an appropriate and cost-effective manner.

  • Develop, maintain and implement soil and ground water risk management strategy for FPS.

  • Provide general environmental compliance technical support to the FPS business as required

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree in Environmental Management or related discipline, or Degree in relevant Engineering discipline supported by Diploma in Environmental Management.

  • Membership of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment).

    Minimum Experience:

  • Extensive experience in oil and gas or similar industry.

  • Significant experience in an Environmental Advisor or Specialist role, preferably within oil and gas industry.
