FM Field Supervisor, Grangemouth Refinery – Permanent.


Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. This is an exciting time to join us at our Grangemouth site; we are seeking a Field Supervisor to join our Engineering Team at our Grangemouth site on a permanent basis.

The purpose of this role is to supervise the maintenance and repair work carried out by own staff and that of contractors. Develop PMSL staff and hence maintain their competency level through coaching, training, doing, appraising and recording. Provide the essential details of work times, costs, material consumed safety performance and other ad hoc KPI’s to senior engineers and managers for subsequent analysis and liaise with site personnel and to agree work methods and risks associated with FM activity in their areas.

Key responsibilities

Assures a high level of workmanship from all trades under his/her charge so that health, safety and environmental aspects of every job are covered and demonstrated
Maintaining a disciplined workforce with accountability for the conduct and professionalism of all staff under his/her charge in the execution of maintenance work and their interactions with other PMSL employees, contractors and visitors
Dealing with staff issues in a timely and mature manner to ensure that a high level of discipline, trust, respect and understanding is achieved from them
Is directly responsible for the development, performance and competency of staff under his/her charge and the timely completion of annual appraisals in accordance with the company’s expectation
Ensures that FM systems/equipment availability is always at a high level thus impacting positively on overall performance of the FM group
Ensures that the administrative workload associated with procurement, stores, work request scheduling, planning and reporting, statutory reporting, safety briefings and daily work co-ordination meetings are complete and up-to-date
Create, organize and implement maintenance opportunity work plans particularly around periods of planned systems outage in order to minimize business disruption
Develops and creates work instructions to support the FM services function
Actively challenging the status quo for the betterment of the company, the department and the individual
Liaise with external suppliers, vendors and specialist contractors to identify new maintenance techniques, equipment, training/skill enhancements that could be implemented to demonstrate best industry practice within the FM maintenance function#
Assist, contribute, review and at times create risk assessments for ad hoc/non-planned work, so that they are readily available for implementation in accordance with established procedures and agreed timeframes
Ensures that staff contribute to the business need for overtime working by providing adequate notification in order for specific jobs to be continued or completed

Skills/Experience required

HNC in an engineering discipline
Apprenticeship/time served craftsperson in an engineering discipline
Relevant experience in a management/supervisory role
Previous experience of working within a COMAH site.
Knowledge of building regulations with sound Mechanical, E/I and Building Services practices.
Knowledge of CDM, PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR (CompEx) and Legionella Regulations
Strong commitment to health and safety of self and others and able to influence others’ poor safety behaviours and attitudes
Adapt at dealing effectively with conflicting demands and priorities and managing personal time
Good interpersonal understanding and communication skills
Ability to challenge the norm and fixed assumptions
