HS&E Advisor - Contract

This is an exciting time to join Ineos at our Grangemouth site, the Company’s largest manufacturing asset. The site is undergoing a radical transformation with significant investment in the chemicals business (£450m) aimed at securing a long term future for the site. This includes the construction of Europe’s largest shale gas ethane tank. These projects will position the Grangemouth site amongst the ‘premier league’ of its peers.

We require experienced HS&E Advisor at our Grangemouth site to provide support, advice and expertise on HS&E technical and legislative matters on short and long term issues. 

The site is a top tier site under the Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations and the Control of Pollution Act due to the large quantities of flammable and potentially polluting oil stored at the site.

The key accountabilities of the role are:

Ensure that the business meets the minimums required by HS&E legislation, regulation and guidance including the requirements of the HS&E management systems. 

  • Provide assurance to Delivery managers of HS&E compliance by monitoring of key performance indicators including behavioural safety, process safety and environment elements.

  • Provide assurance to managers of the appropriate follow-up and close out of near miss and incident investigations.

  • Collating and analysing HS&E data and prepare reports to improve HS&E performance for the area and/or business including external reporting as required.

  • Providing HS&E expertise and support in incident investigations, regulator enquiries, TAR’s, Projects and other special works.

  • Lead the development and enhancement of HS&E knowledge with managers, supervisors and teams including contractors to ensure regulatory compliance within the area and/or business.

  • As subject matter expert, provide detailed technical HS&E knowledge and appropriate improvement recommendations to managers, supervisors and teams including contractors.

  • Continuing professional development and maintenance of core HS&E knowledge of an HS&E professional.

  • Beyond the core HS&E knowledge of an HS&E professional, develop and maintain a deep thorough subject matter expertise on appropriate topic(s) relevant to INEOS operations.

  • Supporting colleagues on HS&E matters including any specialised topics.

  • Participating in professional networks including the wider INEOS business, regulator, governmental and trade associations where required.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant science or engineering discipline is desirable

  • Appropriate professional HS&E qualifications or be working towards corporate membership of appropriate institutions such as IOSH and IEMA is essential

    Knowledge

  • 5+ years in working in an operating/regulatory HS&E environment.

  • Excellent understanding and application of current regulatory requirements for HS&E compliance.

  • Good working knowledge of HS&E standards.

    Skills

  • Capable of identifying issues and supporting technical decisions and commitments on behalf of the INEOS business in these highly regulated fields.

  • Excellent communications and inter-personal skills with the ability to present technical and complex concepts to a wide audience.

  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills and methodical approach to provide practical solutions to complex issues.

  • Ability to react quickly and work to tight deadlines.

  • Understand and support the business operation and optimisation requirements.
