FPS (Forties Pipeline System) is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.


Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

Accountable for managing all operational and maintenance activities of the INEOS FPS Assets located south of the River Forth ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory, integrity and SHE requirements.

The Assets under control include the Kinneil Gas Separation plant, the Crude Oil Storage Terminal at Dalmeny, the export berths at Hound Point, and the RLPG Jetty Operations. 

Principle Accountabilities

  • All aspects of control of work to ensure safe execution of all maintenance and project activities on a daily/shift basis

  • Co-ordination of all manufacturing activities to ensure delivery of production targets and maximum EBITDA contribution

  • Setting and managing all budgets for the Asset (Operating, Maintenance, NRR, TAR, CAPEX, CVC)

  • Accountable for all maintenance, technical/development and service support organisations for FPS South

  • Definition and implementation of asset improvement strategy to achieve ongoing and future SHE, regulatory, production and cost performance requirements

  • Extensive people leadership through motivating, developing and empowering teams/individuals to deliver required/enhanced performance

  • Management of Industrial Relations

  • As per rota, act as duty incident manager for the FPS Business

Qualifications and technical experience

  • Engineering or relevant degree

  • Experience predominantly in manufacturing roles

  • Demonstrated strong personal commitment to drive continuous improvement in SHE performance

  • Track record of performance delivery in wide range of roles

  • Strong business awareness, financial and commercial understanding

  • Broad appreciation of all aspects of asset operations

  • Understanding of relevant HSE legislation

  • Project management and execution experience

  • Emergency, upset and reputation management

  • Managing organisational change 

  • Manufacturing excellence


  • Ability to manage large multi-level, multi-discipline teams

  • Strong leadership, coaching and people development

  • Mastery of driving cultural change across organisations
