Instrument and Control Engineer
The Forties Pipeline System (FPS) is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.
FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and onshore terminals through to Kinneil Terminal in central Scotland. The FPS North infrastructure comprises over 300km of pipeline and includes Unity offshore riser platform, Cruden Bay reception terminal, and three pumping stations.
Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance manager, the purpose of the role is to provide engineering support for the Instrument and Control discipline across the asset, with a focus on Operations Critical Telecoms and SCADA systems. The purpose of the role is to ensure safe operation and continued availability of the pipeline. As the role progresses you may be expected to take on additional discipline responsibilities including functional safety.
The asset focal point for DCS and Telecomms. Providing engineering leadership and support, interfacing with vendors and key stakeholders to respond to outages and incidents across the sites
Preparing and executing work scopes using the management of change system to improve asset communications availability and diversity.
Provide asset knowledge and operational consideration to the central projects function working on major plant modifications
Interface with the HSE and Independent Verification Body during plant audits and inspections
Carry out audits and self-verifications across the assets, ensuring compliance with INEOS behaviours and expectations. Provide coaching where applicable in cases where the standard is not met.

Experience in DCS and SCADA system operation and maintenance
Experience in PCN network architecture across geographically distributed assets
Experience of Operations Critical Telecomms, preferably offshore hotline connections
A basic understanding of Functional Safety fundamentals under IEC 61508 and 61511
Ability to plan and execute minor work scopes on site and drive projects through to execution
Chartered Engineer or working towards chartered status
Experience in the operation, maintenance, and modification of plant Safety Systems
Working knowledge of electrical system architecture and the operation and maintenance of critical equipment such as UPS systems
Working knowledge of the Honeywell Experion PKS
Working knowledge of the Honeywell FSC System
Working knowledge of the Allen Bradley PLC-5 System
Experience in Functional Safety trip modelling using software such as TRAC or Fault Tree applications
Experience on offshore platforms or a willingness to do so
