Instrument Assurance Engineer

Job Purpose : Specify, plan and develop the more complex Instrument engineering activities within the O&P UK Assets, to achieve compliance with legal requirements, site electrical standards and business goals.

Dimensions

  • Grangemouth is a top tier COMAH site with a large ethylene cracker, ethane import terminal, two world scale polymers plants, power station and other petrochemicals processes. There is a large range of equipment in use within these Assets; some of which has significant complexity and is critical to safe and economic plant operations.
  • Multiple Assets across the O&P business, KG, KG Offsites, Polymers, Utilities, Hydrocarbons, Cross Country pipelines and Ethanol.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Implement and sustain Asset based instrument standards which comply with the law and national standards.
  • Improve and roll out an internal functional safety management system including policies, procedures and corrective action tracking.
  • Assist and guide the O&P Assets Lead Instrument/ Electrical (I/E) Engineers towards development of asset care policies which comply with the relevant standards and optimise plant availability.

Special Features

The jobholder will be the O&P Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a number of Asset related Instrument engineering areas and support the O&P Instrument TA for specific Instrument integrity issues within their range of knowledge.

The job holder will be expected to participate actively and provide a key input to equipment failure investigations, Peer Reviews, PHSERs, TAR Start up Audits and Technical audits including interaction with other Ineos SME’s and external regulators.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Experienced Instrument/ Control/ Electrical Engineer (Chartered or working towards)
  • Good working knowledge of the law as it applies to the design, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of instrument equipment.
  • Specific knowledge in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) including SIS management procedures, evaluation of safety instrumented functions (SIF’s), Maintenance and testing SIFs, and Training of Technicians and Engineers
  • Experience as an auditable system owner. Contact with internal and external audit bodies.
  • Good working knowledge of Maintenance Management Systems (preferably Maximo).
  • Thorough knowledge of process instrument equipment inspection and maintenance practices.

  • Good Communicator, verbal and written skills.
