KG Project Construction Manager

Having committed to significant investment and remediation programme over the next few years, we require an experienced Project Construction Manager with extensive knowledge of construction legislation, practices, standards and techniques to play a key role in the delivery and support of our business on a permanent basis. The Project Construction Manager will lead construction of the KG Project scope, including resourcing and managing the team, to meet the business expectations for SHE, schedule, cost and quality.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Recruit, develop and organize the KG project construction team resources to match the KG projects demand.
  • Provide clear leadership, support, coaching and development to the construction team to help attain their full performance potential aligned to the business goals for HSE, quality, schedule and cost.
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and standards and provide associated training for project construction activities across O&P UK to satisfy legislative requirements and meet business goals for HSE, quality, schedule and cost
  • Develop and deliver a construction strategy for each project in the KG program to satisfy legislative requirements and meet business goals for HSE, quality, schedule and cost.
  • Provide construction expertise and advice during design, safety and engineering reviews to ensure that construction requirements and legislation are complied with. Chair constructability reviews.
  • Develop, review and approve work scopes, execution plans, HSE plans and risk assessments to ensure projects can be constructed safely and efficiently within timescales.
  • Provide progress reports to Project Managers, Cost Engineers, Purchasing and Planners to monitor the delivery of projects and take action as required to resolve issues.
  • Direct, control and motivate multi-discipline sub-teams and contractors to deliver construction of individual projects in line with business goals for cost, schedule, HSE and quality, in compliance with legislation.
  • Monitor the performance of construction contractors and take action as required to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Monitor construction activities and organize resolution of technical queries to ensure projects are constructed to drawings, specifications and good construction practices.
  • Develop cost estimates for construction team input to projects and control spend to ensure delivery of events within agreed budgets.
  • Organise the provision of accurate and complete “As Built” information to the Project Manager to update site records with the correct information.
  • Organise maintenance of the KG construction village and control occupancy to ensure use of available village capacity matches the priorities set by the Asset Manager.

  • Project Construction SME for the all assets at site and owner of standard 02-A-003 Project Construction with dotted line relationship to the project construction team in each asset across O&P UK.
  • Manages construction of multiple diverse and concurrent projects on KG including all project tar preparation.
  • Technically reviews Project Specifications, SSOW and contractual variations.
  • Construction input into Technical Workshops, Material Selection, Execution Strategies and Design Reviews
  • Evaluate field construction methods and chair Constructability Reviews to determine Cost Effectiveness of Plan.
  • Interfaces with engineering design contractors and 10-20 main and supporting construction contractor companies
  • Project representative at meetings with potential field contractors, vendors and Leader of Contract Kick-Off Meetings.
  • Technical evaluation of field contract bidders through ECF Process.
  • Day to day management of all field construction activities, contractor’s preparation and field mobilization.
  • Understands and supports the site industrial relations strategy for up to 400 contractors on the site.
  • Ability to identify and manage interfaces with Project and Turnaround Managers, Asset Team and key vendors.
  • Proven track record to lead the construction of a major portfolio of projects into a major TAR event
  • Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems, evaluate realistic options and recommend, implement an appropriate course of actions.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing conflicting resource demands.
  • Demonstrates very strong decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm while taking charge of critical situations.
  • Manages significant uncertainty and risk to deliver construction on time and on budget.
  • Able to build strong working relationships with a wide range of people at all levels in the organization.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Significant experience in Construction roles manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with construction contractors and contractor management.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Qualified in construction and HSE management e.g. CITB 5 Day Construction Managers Course
  • Competent and skilled line manager.
  • Competent and skilled in cost, estimating and schedule management.
