KG TAR 2019 Integrity Assurance Specialist

Job Purpose
Support delivery of multi-discipline Assurance on all aspects relating to Quality Management associated with KG TAR 2019 event with particular reference to mechanical fabrication and welding.Assist in co-ordinating activities that ensure KG TAR event is delivered to the right quality consistent with application of both site and industry codes, standards and practices.
Co-ordinate the execution of Quality Assurance completions work in support of the TAR timescales and demands.


  • Manage and coordinate the activities of a team of 4 - 8 contract welding inspectors (depending on demand)

  • Develop and deliver fabrication assurance process for KG TAR 2019 event

  • Provide a specialist fabrication technical support service to various Ineos Projects, Maintenanceand KG TAR event

  • Provide competent technical audit support to 3rd party vendor assessment and audit programme (UK and EU) as an integral element of the KG TAR supplier assurance process

  • Coordinate and manage a 3rd party vendor assurance surveillance service supporting various Ineos Projects, Maintenance and KG TAR event including performance management of 2 Fabrication equipment inspection surveillance companies

    Principal Accountabilities

  • Establish and manage a robust change process for all current and new quality manuals and dossiers. Ensure that there are no gaps in such activities particularly under TAR schedule constraints.

  • Lead administrative support in establishing change within current and new quality manuals and dossiers

  • Drive the offsite supplier completions and punching programme with administrative support together with any factory acceptance testing authorising final factory release.

  • Co-ordinate delivery of the right supplier handover package, dossiers and manuals for the event project to site records and operational needs.

  • Co-ordinate with site technical authorities on managing quality aspects of technical change and also advise on Ineos response on interpretation to relevant standards, codes and Nobo involvement.

  • Integrate closely with Ineos Integrity Dept and Area Inspection Authorities for all quality aspects of compliance to codes and standards.

  • Co-ordinate, sustain and deliver common fabrication Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes to deliver full compliance with both Ineos and Industry legislation, codes and standards.

  • Manage and co-ordinate the review and approval of Fabricators QA/QC

  • Maintain a fabrication procedure and qualification assurance database for management of approval of Contractor fabrication documentation to assure compliance with Ineos codes and standards for asset integrity.

  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on mechanical packaged and fabricated equipment at Manufacturers premises, recommend remedial work required, provide an engineering decision on the suitability of equipment for its intended use on site and accept on behalf of Ineos and KG TAR Event. 

  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the Welding Inspectors to provide assurance of fabrication quality in compliance with Codes, standards and INEOS business goals, including competence assurance

  • Provide a QA/QC support service to Projects, Maintenance and TAR which provides technical assurance on criticality and quality levels to be applied to equipment for new and existing equipment manufacturers and materials suppliers in line with Ineos Standards

  • Performance manage and co-ordinate 3rd party vendor inspection and assurance service for manufacture or repair of fabricated equipment to deliver compliance with Ineos Codes and Standards.

Advocate good practice and provide guidance on the application and interpretation of Ineos engineering codes and standards and coaching to onsite and offsite fabricators to achieve the fabrication quality necessary to deliver legislative compliance.

     The role of KG TAR Integrity Assurance Specialist involves communicating and influencing through a number of diverse organisations and people, including Ineos Integrity Dept, Engineering Inspection, site Fabrication companies, Ineos Assets (O&P), other suppliers of mechanical equipment and specialist Fabrication companies,

  •    The post holder must have the communication and influencing skills to provide assurance that the suppliers, 3rd parties and Specialist contractors who carry out the mechanical integrity work scope are suitable.
  •    The post holder typically interacts with senior people in supplier organisations when carrying out audits and approving suppliers, Managing director, Engineering Manager, etc. 
  •    The Integrity Assurance Specialist deputises for the Welding Engineer for Welding technical design and complex repair methods and issues.
  •    The post holder will have extensive working knowledge of subject matter for Fabrication QA and QC. As such the jobholder will have a deep expertise in fabrication technology and techniques and regularly      required to make decisions on mechanical equipment manufacture and fabrication.
  •    The post holder must be able to work remote from the site with no immediate supervision and have the confidence and competence to make the correct decisions regarding integrity assurance.
  •     The post holder provides fabrication technical expertise support to the site including Ineos staff, design and fabrication contractors.  This includes supporting resolution of Engineering Technical Queries and deviations for Engineering Standards.
  •     The post holder networks with all site fabrication contractors to support, shape and deliver fabrication quality in accordance with the site fabrication standards Series 18, 42, 46 and Engineering Assurance Series 50.
  •     The post holder provides a fabrication consultation service to various Ineos Projects, Maintenance and TARS.
  •      The post holder leads and/or participates in QA/QC audits providing technical expertise, assessment and assurance of new and existing 3rd party fabricators, manufacturers and suppliers of mechanical equipment and materials, working closely with the Site Mechanical Technical Authority and Compliance Team

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

HNC or HND in welded fabrication or a related subject. This includes good working knowledge of Ineos Engineering Standards (Series 18, 42, 46 & 50) and key mechanical engineering Industry standards eg PD5500, ASME VIII Div. 1 and 2, EN13445, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, and relevant ASTM Material Standards
Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or Engineering Technician Status
Qualified to CSWIP 3.2 in Welding Inspection.
Qualified auditor and internal auditor to ISO9000 – 2008 to provide competence in QA/QC assurance processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to enable effective communication at all levels within Ineos and third party organisations.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in fabrication technology with extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding, materials, NDT, design, QA systems, fabrication codes and standards and legislation (eg PSSR and PER) relating to the fabrication and inspection of refinery and petrochemicals equipment and is required to have the necessary breadth of knowledge and skill for this role.
