Logistics Coordinator, Grangemouth Refinery – Permanent.



Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. This is an exciting time to join us at our Grangemouth site; we are seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our Commercial Team at our Grangemouth site on a permanent basis.

The purpose of this role is to ensure continuous supply of hydrocarbon and bio-fuel material across the existing and potential network for Petroineos Fuels Ltd (PIFL) via all modes of delivery including road, rail and shipping. The Logistics Coordinator will drive efficiencies in our operations and ensure adherence to best practice, proactively and professionally communicating both internally & externally.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete all logistics activities within the required timelines to ensure continued supply of product to PIFL customers across the customer portfolio and geography

  • Monitor and control product allocation and forecasting to ensure material is available via each mode of transport on time and that onward logistics are in place to deliver

  • Assist in the compilation of annual and monthly budgeting to ensure a high focus on cost control and operational efficiency

  • Develop and maintain a suite of KPIs to demonstrate the effectiveness of the logistics function and identify areas for improvement

  • Input and approve invoices for various 3PL providers in accordance with local procedures and in line with the agreed budgets

  • The role will encompass travel working on and off-site with both internal and external customers

  • Commercial Marketing and Distribution team including operations at Grangemouth & remote locations, quality & technical

  • Financial and business control staff at Grangemouth

  • Quality control and laboratory team

  • Area 4 logistics team including rail loading

  • Shipping team in London and shipping operations and load and discharge ports

  • Planning and Optimisation team

  • Procurement team

  • HSE team

 Skills/Experience required

  • Proven experience within the logistics field at coordinator level/comparable

  • Working knowledge of the regulations covering the transport of hazardous goods by road, rail (ADR/RID/UK interpretation of these regulations)

  • Ability to work across multiple processes, continually tracking performance

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a procedural approach

  • Extensive experience in MS Office suite of applications

  • Ability to recognise the opportunities for process improvement

  • Excellent understanding of just-in-time logistics scheduling

  • Have a customer focused attitude

  • Experience of working in complex organization(s) and have the ability to identify clear paths to achieve the desired outcome

  • Ability to work well within a team, with great communication skills

  • Ability to share experience and learn new skills

  • Flexible approach and some travel may be required

  • Able to demonstrate substantial experience in a complex logistics function
