INEOS Oil & Gas UK (“IOG UK”) is a fully integrated exploration and production company focused on upstream operations in the Southern North Sea (“SNS”) and West of Shetland. IOG UK also manages INEOS’ onshore shale and upstream services businesses. Our business purpose is the responsible, reliable, long term extraction of natural gas and our strengths include our know-how, extensive geological and technological experience and our commitment to research and development.


We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner to provide maintenance and inspection planning for two SNS gas production platforms that are operated on a scheduled intervention basis for approximately 10 days each per month. The successful candidate will be experienced in offshore gas platform operation and maintenance and ideally with the challenges of operating normally unattended SNS gas platforms on a rotation basis.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Provide operations maintenance and inspection planning support to the operations engineers and operations manager

  • Use proprietary computer based maintenance management software (API Pro) for planning, analysing and reporting maintenance and inspection activities

  • Develop maintenance and inspection systems and procedures for new and existing assets

  • Work with operations and integrity engineers to optimise scopes according to priority and scheduled intervention periods

  • Use the maintenance management system to produce scheduled preventive maintenance work orders for time-based and condition-based maintenance items

  • Generate work orders from existing templates, manage and maintain work instructions for maintainable items based on feedback from platform staff and operations engineers.  Capture any unplanned and corrective maintenance reported by platform staff, produce corrective work orders and schedule future work accordingly

  • Identify parts, materials, equipment and personnel resources for forthcoming interventions according to maintenance work orders.

  • Assist operations engineers to manage maintenance priorities according to safety and environmental criticality, production reliability, asset performance and cost

  • Optimise inspection rounds to maximise efficient use of resources, personnel, vendors and third parties

  • Generate data showing maintenance completion status, overdues and backlog for inclusion in management reports

Skills & Knowledge Required


  • HNC in relevant Engineering discipline is preferred, however ONC or equivalent will be considered

  • Previous experience as an Engineer or Engineering Technician in a relevant discipline

  • Previous experience of working within the oil and gas industry is preferred

  • Experience and familiarity with API-Pro, however experience of using other systems will be considered


  • Results orientated, conscientious with a strong work ethic

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Strong commercial awareness

  • Solutions focused with the ability to implement improvements and efficiencies where appropriate
