Maintenance Specialist- (Contract) - Grangemouth

Job Purpose

This is an exciting time to join INEOS Grangemouth. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Maintenance Specialist to join our Polymers Reliability team.

As a Maintenance Specialist in our Polymers asset, you will be developing, planning and executing the spares management process for the Polymers business, and supporting the business maintenance and outage programmes ensuring full compliance with legislation, site GMP’s standards and business goals for SHE, plant reliability and costs.  The main aim of the Reliability team is to provide Engineering solutions to Polymer plant reliability issues.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Develop, define and deliver the strategy for managing the Polymers business maintenance spares to meet OPUK business goals for SHE, integrity, reliability, timing and value. 
  • Organise, plan and execute the critical spares preservation maintenance routines to meet with the Polymers business maintenance and outage plans. 
  • Procure, inspect and confirm the suitability of the spare parts for the Polymers outages in line with the Polymers business demand and outage plans. 
  • Track the delivery of critical spare parts ordered and review against engineering documentation to confirm the spares are correct and in line with the purchase order. 
  • Specify and order lower complexity and criticality items of equipment for Polymers routine maintenance works and plant outages. 
  • Set up, performance manage and organize Original Equipment Manufacturers maintenance contracts along with pre-planned site visits to deliver OPUK business targets for SHE, reliability and value. 
  • If required, carry out Factory Acceptance Testing and vendor site audits in order to deliver the required Quality Assurance for Polymers spares management.
  • Plan and carry out punching on equipment that has undergone significant maintenance work during normal plant maintenance and quarterly outages to ensure that the equipment is safe and suitable to return to normal operation.
  • Assist with the developments of asset care plans and planned maintenance routines for rotating mechanical & electrical equipment to meet polymers reliability targets.
  • Develop and sustain close working relationships with Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and Technicians within the Polymers Engineering Team to ensure that reliability requirements are met.
  • The jobholder will be the Polymers main point of contact for spares and stock management supporting normal maintenance, outages, TAR’s and construction. 
  • Participate in outages, including TAR’s, quarterly outages and project construction when required.  This includes working additional hours in the support of the delivery of above.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills


  • The jobholder is required to have a good working knowledge of engineering documentation, equipment construction and ability to carry out maintenance on engineering mechanical equipment. 
  • Vocational qualification HNC / HND in an engineering discipline. 
  • Completed an accredited engineering apprenticeship. 
  • The role will require good communication and interpersonal skills because of the large number of internal and external interfaces. 
  • An able self-starter with the ability to identify priorities and alter to suit the demand at the time. Positive can do attitude, taking pride in all tasks undertaken
  • Good working knowledge and expertise of Maintenance Management Systems e.g. Maximo, SAP
  • Good working knowledge of legislation as it applies to rotating machinery, and maintenance practices.  (PUWER, DSEAR, Electricity at Work Act, etc). 


  • Technical support background in a maintenance/ manufacturing team
  • Proficient user of Excel and Word
