Management System Specialist



The Forties Pipeline System (FPS) is 100% INEOS owned and predominantly serves the central area of the North Sea. FPS has a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day.

FPS transports crude oil and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) from ovr 50 offshore fields (including the St Fergus terminal) to the Kinneil terminal in Grangemouth. The crude and NGL products are stabilised at Kinneil where majority of the stabilised crude oil is then sent to the Dalmeny and Hound Point (DHP) terminal for tanker export.

Associated gas is also processed at Kinneil into dry gas (exported to the Grangemouth refinery) and propane plus butane which is sent for LPG export.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the post holder holds accountability and ownership of the FPS Company Management System. Working in partnership with the business to manage risk by ensuring that the content meets the contractual and regulatory requirements

Principle Accountabilities

  • Facilitate practice and procedure mapping sessions to accurately identify and integrate key business interfaces.

  • Support the development of content providing ongoing advice over the approved Management System structure, formats and classifications.

  • Ensure that content is developed in line with the approved scope in line with the agreed schedules.

  • Ensure that any proposed scoping/scheduling departures are subject to formal Change Management.

  • Identify emerging issues and risks, reporting back to the Compliance Lead and implement appropriate mitigations.

  • System Owner for the Management System IT Tool and any associated modification.

  • Review of draft Management System Documents to ensure consistency of content and language.

  • Coaching TA’s, SME’s,  Authors to ensure they understand document and system requirements

  • Deliver any relevant training and actively promote the FPS Management System within the business to ensure it’s profile remains high.

  • Provide management system performance data to the Compliance Lead in support of business planning.

  • A general business awareness and understanding of Oil & Gas Industry, both upstream and downstream

  • Knowledge of oil & gas infrastructure and its importance to customers.

  • Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate business information with succinctness and clarity

  • Self-starter and desire to learn and develop

  • Able to work independently with limited supervision

  • Good IT skills, Excel, Powerpoint and Word

Ability to influence peers, subordinates and managers using networking, personal communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications & Technical Experience  

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Management Systems and document authoring

  • Bachelor's Degree in an relevant degree and/or relevant experience


  • Background of Business process mapping

  • Previous Oil and Gas experience

  • Knowledge of Human Factors principles

  • 5-10 Years’ experience of Management / Quality Systems

  • Proven track record of developing Management System documentation across a wide range of disciplines

  • Experienced in working within a team environment

  • Ability to identify and report upon emerging project, HSE and business risks

  • Experienced in delivery of complex, cross functional projects

  • Excellent collaboration/team-work skills

  • Excellent computer and communication/interpersonal skills (verbal, interpersonal, written, presentation).
