Mechanical Engineer - Contract

A truly global company, INEOS is one of the world’s largest chemical companies.  We require a Mechanical Engineer with relevant experience to play a key role in the engineering support and maintenance of our Grangemouth KG ethylene plant

Job Purpose

To support the Asset Mechanical Engineer in the specification of asset repairs, management of plant surveys and development & implementation of Asset Care Policies

Principle Accountabilities

Safety, Health, Environment (SHE)

  •  Demonstrably support the INEOS 20 principles for Managing Behavioural and Process Safety to ensure integrity and personal safety.

Technical

  • Define and specify repairs to plant structures, steam traps, thermal insulation, coatings and passive fire protection to ensure our plant is safe to operate and maintain, compliant with current legislation & company standards, reliable and fully functional
  • Specify & manage periodic inspections of plant structures, steam traps & spring supports, ensuring all defects, inadequacies and non-compliant components are identified, assessed and prioritised
  • Develop & implement mechanical asset care policies, assessing the criticality of our equipment, conducting Failure Mode Analysis, specifying and documenting condition monitoring & Planned Preventative Maintenance requirements & specifying spares requirements
  • Address mechanical engineering related plant vulnerabilities

Job Requirements

All Assets and Plants

  • Some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned plant outages may be required
  • Secondment to deliver set pieces of work may be required

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Degree qualified in a mechanical discipline with substantial experience in a manufacturing industry and with plant maintenance experience.
  • Good understanding of the application of the Plant Modification process and associated documentationmanagement systems
  • Knowledge of the Pressure Safety Systems Regulations, Pressure Equipment Regulations and Planned
  • Preventative Maintenance philosophies (e.g. RCM) preferred
  • Ability to work as part of a team and influence others
  • Ability to drive initiatives through to timely completion in an efficient & effective manner
  • IT skills, including use of Word, Excel, Maximo & Business Objects preferred
