Purpose of Job:
To deliver direction to the activities of the outside shift operators to consistently deliver or exceed the unit production targets on a shift basis within the declared operating envelope of the unit.
To proactively initiate and oversee corrective actions to address production variances on the unit while identifying and delivering value adding opportunities to minimise variable cost and improve overall performance.
Would be required to consistently demonstrate delivery of the safe optimisation of the designated areas.
Will work with the Refinery Shift Leaders and establish ownership of all issues associated with the CCB and general working environment that they are competent to undertake.
Give/receive shift handover report to/from opposite number on other shifts to ensure consistent flow of work within manufacturing process
Actively comply with and participate in all site HSE initiatives, systems and controls e.g. emergency exercises, risk assessments, monitor and log process conditions using outside observation and the distributed control scheme and emergency shutdown systems where required in line with safety and operating procedures to ensure that process remains within operating envelopes and a safe working environment is maintained.
Review and challenge the site campaign goals, unit targets and marginal economics and confirm understanding. Control the unit to deliver unit targets on a shift basis. Highlight optimisation targets which cannot be achieved due to unit constraints, identify causes and initiate corrective actions.
Apply plant knowledge and fault-finding skills to identify root cause of upsets, communicate and discuss with other team members and carry out any actions necessary to maintain safe operation of plant
Provide cover/back-up for other team members as required
Responsible for the Control Room Technicians input to the development of ESD systems and providing guidance to CCB Techs on the ESD systems and any updates.
Responsible for data gathering and participation in alarm bad actor reviews and alarm flooding reviews.
Lead the start-up and shutdown of process units, and response to process upsets while control remains with the CCB.
Recommend improvements to process and procedures to maximise efficiency
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Refinery Control Room Environment, be numerate with PC skills and a proven ability to problem solve. Will be required to communicate and work well with others. A strong awareness of health & safety is essential.
At least 5 years experience of control room operations is essential.
It is desirable to be educated to HNC standard but not essential
