Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. Our two advantaged refineries process 420,000 barrels of crude oil per day and produce in the region of 19 million tonnes of fuels per annum. Our refineries are strategically located at Grangemouth in Scotland and at Lavéra in France and are both fully integrated with co-sited petrochemical plants.
Grangemouth, home to Scotland’s only crude oil refinery, is directly connected to the Forties Pipeline System in the North Sea. It also imports other crudes from around the world via our deep sea terminal at Finnart, on the west coast of Scotland. Having committed to significant investment and remediation programme over the next few years, we require a Rail Terminal Technician with experience within a manufacturing/operations environment.
Purpose of Job
To maintain optimum operation of the rail terminal by operating, monitoring and maintaining process and equipment inline with safety and operating procedures.
The rail terminal is a key part of the logistics chain for the Grangemouth Refinery.
Give/receive shift handover report to/from opposite number on other shifts to ensure consistent flow of work within manufacturing process
Actively comply with and participate in all site HSE initiatives, systems and controls e.g. permit to work, safety tours, emergency exercises, COSHH and risk assessments, Monitor and log process conditions using outside observation and the distributed control scheme and emergency shutdown systems where required in line with safety and operating procedures to ensure that process remains within Operating Envelopes and a safe working environment is maintained
Apply plant knowledge and fault-finding skills to identify root cause of upsets, communicate and discuss with other team members and carry out any actions necessary to maintain safe operation of plant
Provide cover/back-up for other team members as required
Identify emergent maintenance work on equipment in specific areas of responsibility.
Provide permit to work authority to enable tasks to be carried out safely and within operating constraints of process conditions
Recommend improvements to process and procedures to maximise efficiency
The successful candidate will have previous experience within a manufacturing/operations environment, be numerate with PC skills and a proven ability to problem solve. Will be required to communicate and work well with others. A strong awareness of health & safety is essential.
Experience of rail operations is essential.
It is desirable to be educated to HNC standard but not essential
A current UK driving licence is essential
