This role is based within Petroineos Grangemouth, in the Refinery Reliability & Integrity Team.

As a Senior Electrical Instrument Engineer you will be responsible for championing the process of instrument and electrical reliability improvement across the refinery as well as developing the capability of personnel in reliability improvement activities associated with instrumentation and electrical equipment so that a culture of continuous improvement is achieved at all levels.

As an instrument or electrical SME, you will provide areas of instrumentation, control or electrical expertise to the refinery.

To be successfull within this role, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Generate Asset Life Plans and Policies for electrical equipment and instrumentation

  • Generate and own the Refinery’s Instrument and Electrical Bad Actor lists, delivering solutions and eliminating poor performers.

  • Ensure that major instrumentation and electrical vulnerabilities have been identified and plans are in place to address the availability losses. this will include delivering specific solutions to eliminate any vulnerabilities.

  • Perform detailed analysis of equipment reliability, identifying gaps between current performance and business requirements

Qualifications/Key Skills/Knowledge:

  • Professional Engineering Degree or Equivalent (ideally Chartered status)

  • The job holder will typically have had experience covering all aspects of the life-cycle for a wide range of instrument and electrical equipment, ideally associated with the Oil and Gas industry

  • Specialist knowledge within some or all of the fields of instrumentation, control and electrical engineering, demonstrating a thorough understanding and application of the discipline within this environment.

  • A good working knowledge of improvement processes and their application to manufacturing processes.

  • Proven track record in the design and delivery of Performance Improvement Projects.

  • The job holder will be an expert in RCA and other Reliability Processes e.g. FMEA, both applying these and training/coaching others in their use

  • Experienced in the coaching and development of professional engineers.

  • Good interpersonal understanding and communication skills

  • Ability to challenge the norm and fixed assumptions

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Drive to learn relevant new techniques, coupled with natural drive, the ability to make a difference
