SHE Advisor – North - competitive salary and benefits

FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the technical safety & SHE manager, the post holder will provide SHE support  and advice to the INEOS FPS North staff, including 3rd party contractors to ensure compliance with legislation and delivery of site SHE performance targets.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Carry out visits to onshore and offshore sites, providing SHE advice to site teams, to enable compliance with legislative requirements and INEOS FPS standards;

  • Conduct site-based Level 1 Assurance activities, and support the management of the asset Level 1 Assurance Plan;

  • Provide coaching/verification that INEOS FPS systems and processes are understood, implemented and complied with;

  • Deliver SHE meetings, SHE Campaigns, and Lessons Learned sharing;

  • Deliver SHE Inductions to communicate SHE rules and expectations;

  • Support Site Turnarounds/Projects to identify hazards and participate in the development of risk reduction measures to manage the risk;

  • Lead, participate in and coach incident investigations into SHE related incidents to identify root causes; making recommendations to prevent re-occurrence;

  • Support and coach Control of Work risk assessments and tool box talks, to ensure all SHE hazards are identified and adequately controlled;

  • Conduct SHE oversight of contractors on-site activities;

  • Liaise with elected Safety Reps and provide appropriate material to them;

  • Support the Asset Care (AsCare) program;

  • Lead, participate in and coach on the safety observation system;

  • Primary contact for agency and 3rd party SHE professionals supporting projects & representing contractor companies;

  • Where required, support vendor SHE prequalification;

  • Support and mentoring of Safety Representatives;


  • Regular travel to FPS sites – some remotely based

  • Occasional travel to offshore asset

Qualifications and technical experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General certificate in occupational Health & Safety

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent (desired)

  • Internal Auditor qualification


Minimum Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a SHE related role


Job-Specific Skills:

  • Good communication, engagement and coaching skills

  • Ability to effectively manage external relationships with key stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

  • Understanding of project management principles

Job Knowledge Skills:

  • Onshore and offshore operational O&G site SHE experience
