This is an exciting time to join us at our Grangemouth site, INEOS’ largest manufacturing asset

Having committed to significant investment over the next few years, we now require a Shipping Team Leader with demonstrable experience in marine logistics operations and scheduling to lead a team in delivering optimal shipping logistics/operations for the complex to match site business’ requirements whilst minimising business risk and demurrage exposure.  

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for development and control the Demurrage Management process to maximise cost savings to all businesses.
  • Develop and deliver a shipping Logistics strategy to match site production requirements and to meet individual business targets while minimising business risk and Demurrage exposure.
  • Direct Line Management of Shipping Logistics Team and Document & Measurement Team.
  • Asset main point of contact and site expert for all matters regarding Shipping Logistics and Demurrage for teams and personnel in all Grangemouth based businesses and for Operators and Traders within Petroineos and the O&P businesses Plus Enterprise business.
  • Leads on behalf of the asset in the process of dictating policy affected by, or affecting shipping logistics.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the Shift Availability Supervisors and their shift teams for the Hydrocarbons Area to ensure optimal ship scheduling.
  • Coordinate with site Refinery and O&P production teams and off-site trading, chartering and demurrage teams to maintain an optimised shipping logistics strategy.
  • Provide assurance of compliance with Hydrocarbons Accounts Procedures and HMCR legislation
  • Negotiate and manage 3rd party contracts for Documentation and Measurement and Chemicals supervision for all vessels operated at Grangemouth.
  • Line manages direct reports in compliance with policies and procedures to ensure current and future team requirements are satisfied.
  • Provides assurance that all Ineos Demurrage claims are analysed, challenged and processed to deliver targets on demurrage savings.  
  • Review and approve shipping costs for Inspectors and Agents ($1M annually)
  • Deliver cost savings through managing Inspector KPIs
  • Achieve optimal jetty utilisation through ship scheduling and maintenance/TAR planning.
  • Monitor Cargo Inspectors performance against KPI’s.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive monthly reports relating to Shipping performance and demurrage to deliver utilisation and cost savings targets
  • Review business policies to identify and report back areas of improvement.
  • Develop and improve Shipping Procedures to deliver utilisation and cost savings targets.
  • Develop and deliver business relationships and processes with off-site organisations to meet requirements.
  • Approve vessels for Grangemouth operations in accordance with INEOS Marine Assurance Standards.
  • Participate in business teams ship charter reviews.
  • Provides out of hours support to shift teams
  • Some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned plant outages.
  • Provides essential out of hours on-call support on a 1:4 week rota.
  • Requirement to travel for business.
  • Manage the Ship scheduling tool
  • Site specialists in vessel measurement analyses and investigations

The successful candidate:

  • Significant experience in Manufacturing/Logistics.
  • Qualifications to HNC level or equivalent industrial experience in an appropriate technical discipline.
  • Intimate Asset knowledge and proven expertise in Shipping/Logistics operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of production streams and business awareness.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (without line management accountability).
  • Detailed knowledge of site standards and legislative requirements relevant to all shipping logistics Proven ability to coach and develop supervisor/technician personnel.
  • High level of communication skills, dealing with all levels in the organisation
