The Grangemouth Site, based in Central Scotland, is a top tier COMAH site with a Refinery, two ethylene crackers and several other major petrochemical processes

Having committed to significant investment over the next few years, we now require a Temporary Integrity Assurance Team Leader with extensive knowledge relating to the fabrication and inspection of refinery and petrochemicals equipment to play a key role in the delivery and support of a project which replaces Cracking Furnace Convection Coils.

 

Context for role:

  • Manage and coordinate the activities of a team of up to 3 welding inspectors
  • Provide a specialist fabrication technical support service to this project
  • Provide competent technical audit support to 3rd party vendor assessment and audit programme
  • Coordinate and manage a 3rd party vendor inspections
  • Review and approve vendor / contractor quality plans
  • Support to completions process

 

Principle Accountabilities of the role:

  • Develop, sustain and deliver a fabrication Quality Assurance and Quality Control process to deliver full compliance with UK legislation and to achieve INEOS business goals.
  • Provide technical support to the Site Procurement Supplier Assurance Process
  • Manage and co-ordinate the review and approval of Fabricators QA/QC documentation, including Quality Plans, Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Weld Procedure Qualifications, Welder Qualification Tests,  PWHT procedures, hydrotest procedures, EQTS’s, deviations and concessions.
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on mechanical packaged and fabricated equipment at Manufacturers premises, recommend remedial work required, provide an engineering decision on the suitability of equipment for its intended use on site and accept on behalf of the Grangemouth Businesses. 
  • Lead and coordinate the activities of the Welding Inspectors to provide assurance of fabrication quality in compliance with Codes, standards and INEOS business goals, including competence assurance
  • Provide a QA/QC support service to Procurement, Stores, Projects and TAR’s which provides technical assurance on the quality of equipment for new and existing equipment manufacturers and materials suppliers to the Ineos Businesses at Grangemouth.
  • Performance manage a 3rd party vendor inspection and assurance service for manufacture or repair of fabricated equipment to deliver legislative compliance and business goals.
  • Advocate good practice and provide guidance on the application and interpretation of engineering codes and standards and coaching to onsite and offsite fabricators to achieve the fabrication quality necessary to deliver legislative compliance and business goals.

 

Ideally Candidates shall have experience and understanding of the following:

  • HNC or HND in welded fabrication or a related subject. This includes good working knowledge of key mechanical engineering Industry standards eg PD5500, ASME VIII Div. 1 and 2, EN13445, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, and relevant ASTM Material Standards.
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or Engineering  Technician Status is desirable
  • Qualified to CSWIP 3.2 or equivalent in Welding Inspection.
  • Qualified auditor and internal auditor to ISO9001 to provide competence in QA/QC assurance processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to enable effective communication at all levels within Ineos and 3rd party organisations.
  • Minimum of 20 years experience in fabrication technology with extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding, materials, NDT, design, QA systems, fabrication codes and standards and legislation (eg PSSR and PER) relating to the fabrication and inspection of refinery and petrochemicals equipment and is required to have the necessary breadth of knowledge and skill for this role.
