12 Month Fixed - Term Contract
The Daily Mile aims to encourage primary schools and nurseries to get children running for 15 minutes every day to improve their wellbeing and create healthy habits for life. Today 10,000 schools across 78 countries are participating; equating to 2.3 million children getting active every day.
In 2017, the Scottish Government committed to becoming the World’s First Daily Mile Nation. Since that commitment the initiative has expanded in Scotland with almost 1,000 places across Scotland, including schools, nurseries, further education institutions and workplaces participating. Now, The Daily Mile is ready to move to the next level in order to truly become the World’s First Daily Mile Nation. This role will be instrumental in helping the Scottish Government achieve this ambition by supporting the promotion and expansion of The Daily Mile ‘Children Fit For Life’ and ‘Fit For Life’ brands across all sectors of Scottish life.
We are looking for a personable and confident candidate with the ability to work independently. You will need to be passionate and enthusiastic about The Daily Mile and be a positive advocate across Scotland. You will need to be proactive with a strong bias for action and a good sense of humour is an asset.
Principle Accountabilities of the role:
You will be responsible for supporting and delivering the growth of The Daily Mile in Scotland through a combination of communications, publicity and successful partner development in order the meet the objective of becoming the World’s First Daily Mile Nation.
You will work closely with Active Scotland in the Scottish Government to maximise the opportunities and support the growth of The Daily Mile using the contacts provided by their network.
The role will be based in Edinburgh and you will report into The Daily Mile Foundation’s UK Partnership Manager.
-Understanding and good knowledge of the public and private sector landscape across Scotland
-Experience or understanding of either Education, Sport and/or Public health sectors
-Experience in project management, either in event delivery or charity sector
-Excellent verbal communication skills
-Strong administrative and planning skills
-Experience in developing digital and social media marketing and communications platforms.
-Ability to work flexibly and travel as required
-Valid driving licence
