Transformation Manager - Competitive Salary and Benefits


FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

This is a senior role supporting the Operations Director in implementing a range of projects required to transform activities in the Operations function that will underpin success of the FPS Business going forward.


The role requires a senior manufacturing/operations professional with a full range of manufacturing knowledge, technical expertise and/or senior project management capability, allied with the behaviours and personality required to drive significant cultural and organisational change.


The job will offer significant development opportunity for the relevant candidate, getting full exposure to all activities relevant to the full remit of the Operations function (SHE, operations, maintenance, projects, procurement) at a time of significant structural change in the Business.  The role will report directly to the Operations Director.



  • Underpin future success of the Operations function through improved management control and compliance with basic but essential activities and processes.

  • Support delivery of culture change for approximately 450 employees I across multiple locations between Aberdeen and Falkirk.

  • Drive the required step change in maintenance and project planning and execution (target of 20% increased scope delivery from existing budgets of typically £20m/annum).

Principal Accountabilities

  • Fully implement and embed the changes associated with the new FPS management system.

  • Define and implement a Management and Control Reporting Structure (MCRS) that will underpin the required improvements in compliance and performance in the Operations function. Future sustainability of the MCRS is a critical success factor for this project and this will only be achieved by the required structure and processes being embedded and adopted as part of normal business through the entire Operations function (and other functions where relevant). Example areas to be covered:

  • Weekly operating performance and assurance reporting
  • CFC, CVC, CAPEX budgeting, control, forecasting and reporting
  • People management (performance management, competency)
  • Organisational Management of Change
  • Drive delivery of ‘first base’ compliance -delivering the plan, doing the job, doing it safely
  • In an accelerated timeline, support the relevant organisations to deliver the required step change in Maintenance and Project planning and execution. This activity is the most critical objective, underpinning the future success of the FPS Business (increased scope delivery from committed CFC and CAPEX budgets).

  • Conduct deep dive on operating boundaries across the business.

  • Audit the effectiveness of the organisation

  • Ensure prioritisation and alignment of all live improvement objectives within and outwith the Operations function e.g. revised control of work platform.

  • Coordinate Managers and Supervisors to deliver improvements identified in non manpower CFC projects required to underpin future cash fixed cost performance commitments.

  • The above must be achieved within ongoing organisational/cost/competency constraints and concurrently with delivery of numerous strategic major capital investment projects.

Special Features

  • Ability to deliver required culture change in a sustainable manner. Numerous change programmes have been implemented in this Business before and required improvements have not been sustained. Embedding honest performance management through the organisation is essential to make this difference.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Significant manufacturing experience in Oil and Gas or Petrochemicals industries

  • Respected professional with a track record of strong performance and delivery

  • Demonstrated people leadership ideally from an engineering or production management position.

  • Established track record of delivering sustainable change projects

  • Strong planning, organisational and task management skills allowing consistent delivery in tight deadlines

  • Ability to drive performance, persuade and influence others at all levels of the organisation (without line management accountability)

  • Proactive and logical approach to problem solving

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
