Turnaround Planner – INEOS

The TAR team is responsible for providing a safe, cost effective and “on time” turnaround. As a Turnaround planner you will be responsible for developing, inputting and maintaining the KG TAR 2019 execution plan including pre & post-TAR scopes as well as during execution phase, taking on a team/area planner role to update plan progress, incorporate and track scope changes, identify critical paths and recover plans as required.


  • Ensure that all turnaround jobs are planned and pre-engineered to an appropriate level for the task
  • Work closely with Asset Engineers, Project Engineers and Contractors to develop detailed planning and resourced breakdowns for each turnaround job
  • Manage and undertake the preparation, input and networking of the complete TAR scope into the planning tool Primavera.
  • Work with the INEOS & Contractor workpack planners to ensure the quality and accuracy of job breakdowns before entering into the Plan. Willing to challenge when required.
  • Assist in developing management reports during turnarounds to monitor progress, manpower status, scope deviations/corrective actions, milestone achievements etc.
  • Monitor TAR progress during the execution phase through the various process systems. Identify where opportunities can be taken or recovery plans are required
  • Input daily progress data to the turnaround planning tool, e.g. Primavera
  • Input to daily turnaround coordination meetings for team/area to produce work plans for the next day and a longer forward plan, e.g. 3 days.

Job Requirements

  • Extremely flexible, must be able to work under pressure, adapt working hours to suit requirements of job. Extended days/weekend work will be required during the execution phase.
  • Good communication skills to interface effectively with Asset Teams, other site departments and contractors. The ability to resolve conflict between groups.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • The post demands high personal working standards of quality and accuracy to ensure planned jobs are completed correctly and safely.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Must have experience on working on TAR (Turnarounds/Outages) particularly in petrochemicals or oil and gas/refinery environment.
  • Expert understanding of Primavera (v6 onward) and skilled in MS Office (Excel, Word etc)
  • Disciplined planning and organisation skills together with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Has the ability to assimilate and analyse data/information and to report recommendations and justification in appropriate language.
