INEOS FPS

FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

Job Purpose

To provide key route surveillance, site monitoring of third party works and promotion of FPS Onshore Pipelines with the relevant wayleave landowner/occupiers, external people, contractors and agencies to ensure the continued safe operation and integrity of FPS Pipelines.

This role is focused on the Southern section of FPS Pipeline routes (River North Esk in Angus to Dalmeny nr Edinburgh, travel to other sites may be required.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Responsible for front line pipeline surveillance through public/ private land.
  • First point contact with numerous Landowners/ Occupiers/ Land managers as INEOS FPS representative in pipeline related matters including formal visits, confirming contact details, land boundaries/ownership and to promote pipeline awareness. Key to role is to develop relations with these external contacts.
  • To ensure all third party works undertaken in proximity to FPS Pipelines are carried out in a safe manner and with minimal risk to the safe operation and integrity of FPS Pipelines.  Accountable for the ongoing works supervision and safety of third party works to ensure any items that present a potential risk to the safe operation and integrity of INEOS FPS Pipelines are assessed and reported in an appropriate timescale.

SCOPE:

  • Undertake pipeline road Patrols/ Vantage point surveys on a rolling schedule
  • Regular checks /inspections of pipeline apparatus, valve sites, TR units
  • Monitoring of Third Party Works in proximity to, and within, pipeline wayleaves (Ensuring that 3rd party work undertakers are aware of the pipeline and to ensure works are completed in compliance with agreed method statement and risk assessments.  
  • Provide follow up site visits to aerial inspection observations
  • To carry out an initial assessment and report any concerns with regard to un-notified third party activity in proximity to INEOS FPS Pipelines.
  • To trace and mark pipeline route and undertake pipeline depth surveys using Catscan equipment.
  • Undertake minor maintenance activities such as seasonal vegetation control, marker/CP post replacements etc.
  • Provision of written weekly reports for routine surveys, third party works and other activities as required detailing observations and activates undertaken.
  • Undertake formal visits with wayleave landowners and occupiers
  • Support FPS Wayleaves Team with annual linewalk inspections and other surveys as required.
  • Provide support, as required, to other wayleave maintenance and inspection contractors
  • Other tasks as requested by FPS Wayleaves Team Leader

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • The role requires a significant aspect of lone working and regular daily driving hence key to role is the ability to work externally and remotely from direct supervision, personal safety management and good physical ability to access pipeline routes and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work externally and remotely in various weather conditions in a safe & controlled manner.
  • Sufficient physical fitness to be able to undertake foot patrols over FPS Pipeline routes.
  • Excellent  communication and people skills to effectively deal with wayleave landowners, 3rd parties and Local Authorities, to represent Ineos FPS and to ensure that discussions held and decisions taken do not impact on the company reputation, or the safe operation and integrity of FPS pipelines.
  • Due to the geographical extent of the role, a flexible approach to working hrs will be required. Occasional additional hrs or overnight stays will be required.

Qualifications and technical experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • SQA educational qualifications (or equivalent) preferred
  • Clean driving License
  • Competent IT skills, MS Office etc.  
  • Working knowledge of GIS mapping systems
  • Use of Catscan equipment

Minimum Experience:

  • Proactive HSSE awareness and promotion
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively deal with wayleave landowners/occupiers and other external contractors and agencies
  • Experience/background/knowledge in civil engineering works, equipment and techniques
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry/land management activities, equipment and techniques.

Job Knowledge Skills: (Training will be provided)

  • Knowledge of the principles of pipeline servitudes
  • FPS pipelines route familiarisation
